Tummy Ache?

Eat a frog!

Jiang Musheng, a 66-year-old resident of Jiangxi province, China, suffered from frequent abdominal pains and coughing from the age of 26, until an old man called Yang Dingcai suggested tree frogs as a remedy, the Beijing News said.

“At first, Jiang Musheng did not dare to eat a live, wriggling frog, but after seeing Yang Dingcai swallow one, he ate … two without a thought,” the paper said.

“After a month of eating live frogs, his stomach pains and coughing were completely gone.”

Over the years Jiang had added live mice, baby rats and green frogs to his diet, and had once eaten 20 mice in a single day, the paper said.

Jiang Musheng isn’t the first person to tout the health benefits of frogs. Some Peruvians drink frog smoothies to cure asthma, bronchitis, sluggishness and a low sex-drive.

Excuse me while I go throw-up! blech

A Small Prayer for JP

Posted 1:42 pm July 24th, 2007 by bama2

If you haven’t been by milblogging.com, you’ve missed one of the sweetest things I’ve ever heard. JP’s little boy, Julian, whispering a prayer for his daddy’s safety. Such a tender little soul expressing his love — if that doesn’t get to you, nothing will!

Fair warning, you’ll probably need tissues!

Is something going on with Tom? I started getting hits from around the world last Fri on a post about him that I did several months ago and it has continued and also includes the US, now! I haven’t seen anything in the news, so I was wondering what caused the sudden interest?! Although, I find looking at him very interesting! Very, very interesting!

Sufferin’ Succotash!

Posted in eye clinic on 8:17 pm July 18th, 2007 by bama2

After tossing and turning and sleeping for a grand total of 3 and a half hours, getting up with a headache and being sick to my stomach, my cousin, who drove up from Montgomery, and myself got to the eye clinic to hear someone say–oh, I think we tried to call you yesterday to change your appointment! WTH! They said they couldn’t find my file after I said I was in the ER last week and other confusing things like didn’t we send you to UAB with a possible stroke?!! WTH?? I was beginning to think we were in the twilight zone! Finally, it was decided that my file was put in someone else’s file with the same name–my first name, which I don’t use! Now, I’m thinking maybe I don’t want them to touch my eye!

And as it turns out, they did exactly what they did in the ER room–complete with sonargram–and said to come back in August to see the retina drs and they may want to put me to sleep and vaccuum the blood out of my eye! WTH? I’ve got to worry about this longer and now they want to vaccuum out my eye! Oh, and don’t lie down flat for at least another month! No aspirin or ibuprofin, etc! They gave me some drops that might help my eye do something (forgot what!). I was so disappointed!

I have only myself to blame for not going back within the time period the dr said I should! So now, instead of just being scared, I can be REALLY scared!

SUFFERIN’ SUCCOTASH, people!

On the plus side: I did enjoy spending the day with my cousin, who is like a sister to me and we went out to eat before she drove home. And we did have an interesting drive with me giving her directions! Me, the one with blurry vision! It was especially fun in the 5 o’clock traffic! Wheee..

To See or Not to See…

Posted 1:52 pm July 13th, 2007 by bama2

Do you think it’s bad luck to make an appt to have something done to my defective eye on Fri, the 13th??? After not doing it for the whole week, the big chicken finally picked up the phone about 30 mins ago and made the appt. I’m so thrilled—NOT! I won’t know until then which type of surgery it’ll be–lazer or the deep sleep kind! They are overbooked, most likely because it’s summer, and, at first, she gave me an Aug date but after I told her I was in the ER last week, she changed it to July 18th. She also said there’d be a long wait. I hope for my cousin, who’s driving up from near Montgomery, it won’t mean we’re there until 9 pm like last time!

Looking at my eye, you can’t tell anything is wrong. It’s not even bloodshot. All the action is inside which means I can see it! If I close my left eye, everything is blurry and it looks like I have hair in my eye and if I move my eye, it moves, too! When I woke up last week, I could see dark red streaks and I knew that wasn’t good! You don’t realize how much your eyes work together until something like this happens. Not only is driving a challenge, especially turning, but reading, watching tv and just about everything else!

I’m really hoping this is going to mean my vision is improved and I don’t have to look at this freak show in my eye anymore! Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been about to drink something and have jerked the cup away because I thought a bug or something was in it!

Do you want pics? TOO BAD! I can’t stand to see eye surgery on tv and I’m sure not going to have some of my own, although I am curious as to what it looks like during all the prodding and flashing of light!

Well, that’s it. July 18th, 1 pm. woo-hoo

The World is a Strange Place

A group of cat lovers in Shanghai, China, used the internet to collect $1,320 to buy a truck loaded with some 800 cats headed for RESTAURANTS!!! They hope to find homes for them by using their pictures.

In southern China, cat meat is considered a delicacy–what isn’t?–and cats are freshly killed before being cooked! Damn! So, I guess they pick a cat like a lobster. That is just sickening! It didn’t say how they were killed and I’m not sure I want to know. I hope the cats are able to give out some deep bites and scratches!

In another article, parts of China are being overrun by field mice! Kitty karma at work? Maybe they should develop a taste for fried mice on a stick!

Cure for Adultry?

Posted 6:13 am July 12th, 2007 by bama2

In Iran, a man imprisoned for 11 years for the crime of adultery
has been stoned to death! The woman is still imprisoned. The usual method for a man is to be buried up to his waist and the woman is usually buried up to her neck with her hands also buried! Stones and rocks are thrown until death is achieved!

In the past years, Iran’s reformist legislators demanded an end to death by stoning as a punishment for adultery, but opposition from hard-line clerics sidelined their efforts.

Capital offenses in Iran include murder, rape, armed robbery, apostasy, blasphemy, serious drug trafficking, adultery or prostitution, treason and espionage.
