Linda,

Back in the dark ages when I was young, all the movie theaters were in downtown Birmingham. There were four that I remember. Maybe five (The Alabama, The Ritz, The Melba, and The Empire. I think maybe there was one called the Lyric as well). My friends and I got off the bus many a Saturday in front of one or the other. If memory serves I saw GWTW at The Ritz, which was a really nice theater as well. It was a block or so down and one street over from the Alabama.

I have many memories of the Alabama Theater, spent many afternoons there when I was a kid. We, of course, did not appreciate the splendor at the time. I think the last movie I saw there (when it was still a "regular" theater) was The Godfather. I was a junior in high school and I remember waiting in line around the block. Sounds kinda funny now, waiting in line "around the block"!

Thanks for bringing back some great memories!
