Thanks for posting this! I do remember all those visits to the Alabama Theatre. Didn't think much about it at the time but now I realize how special it was (is). Mom would drop us off, tickets 50 cents, most of the time we'd take our own popcorn in. Those were some fine ole days, my friend :)

REA stands for Rural Electrification Association, which I guess is a fancy name for an electric co-op. Years ago Alabama Power decided to leave much of rural Alabama in the dark because it wasn’t profitable to provide electricity in sparsely populated areas, so electric co-ops were started to do what Alabama Power chose to not do. The co-ops are owned by the members that they provide electrical service to. There are still numerous co-ops across Alabama and one of them provides service where I live.

AP--who's REA? We have 2 rechargeable lights that put out enough to light the entire room but we lost the cord to the first one and the second one just decided it didn't want to work anymore. I haven't decided on a 3rd one, yet! I am leary of anything that could cause a fire! Although I do have a fat candle in a glass container to use!

I guess I’m better prepared than most people when the power goes off. Left over from my hunting days years ago I have 3 Coleman gas camping lanterns that really put out a lot of light. I also have 3 small-sized kerosene lanterns that put out enough light to get around by and even read numbers in the phone book. I usually just fire up the kerosene lanterns because they’re easier to get lit and operate.

What company supplies your power, Alabama Power or and REA company? I’ve found through the years that REA is usually a lot faster to restore power after an outage.

I feel the same way. I can't imagine that every late term abortion he performed was to save the life of a mother in immediate mortal danger which I would be ok with. I have seen stories of women having late term abortions because the baby did not develop properly or would be suffering or brain damaged after birth. To me, that is not a valid reason. You would not be allowed kill that same child once delivered no matter what the condition or the suffering, so how can you be allowed to do it right before birth? Quick, kill it before it gets out all the way or it won't count as a legal abortion. Sick. Would you kill a child one minute prior to birth, but not one minute after? How many minutes before makes it ok? 2? 100? 1000? That's a little too arbitrary to me. I've always said that legality and morality don't always intersect and we can't justify his behavior simply because it was technically legal.

I know you can't judge a book by its cover, but she looked so sweet and adorable and he indeed looks like a scumbag. I can't help but think he will receive some karmic retribution for this.

Good for Sarah Palin! I wasn't sure if there was an unacceptable line liberals could cross, but maybe Letterman found it. He's just a cranky old man who needs some prune juice. I never really liked Leno either. I hope this gives Conan a big bump.

Shame on you ,Australian justice system!!!!!
This is no justice- for a premeditated Murder.

So everyone who wants to collect some insurance money, just Murder someone in the same way,and you could be set for life!!! How easy is that.
It seems the bigger and brutal the crime, the smaller the punishment!
Watson should die for this.
