Are you getting your share of rain from the storm called Fay? I ask ’cause it sure seems like we’re getting more than our share! Our power was off for about half a night Sat-Sun and we discovered that we were out of candles, matches and our rechargeable light didn’t want to work! We were stuck with a flashlight with weak batteries and the weather radio. Better than nothing but a pain nonetheless!

The phone doesn’t work without power and I lost my cell phone so we dug out a rotary phone to call the power company. We are the only ones on this line so I knew it wouldn’t be reported otherwise. At daylight I attempted to call the operator with the thought that she could connect me with AP. HA-HA I barely got out what the problem was before she disconnected me with a I’ll connect you to 411. This happened 5 times before I gave up with the urge to do bodily harm to the operator!

After I tried dialing the AP number and it not working, I gave up. Finally, my son got the number to ring and we got it reported! Could’ve been worse, I know. But it sure was aggravating!

This is an email that I got after I emailed someone on craigslist about renting a house that I liked and wasn’t far from where we are. If it ever stops raining, I’m going to go to this house and knock on the door and talk to the neighbors and find out what’s going on. Sounds like some more Nigerian crapola. I need a good voodoo dr to put a hex on someone!

I spent about 30 mins doing that very thing last night whilst trying to go pick up some prescriptions before they closed! I thought I would have a stroke! I’m usually a calm person but lately….not! I think the stress is really getting to me. Wish I had a fairy godmother with a magic wand who could zap this move for me! Yeah, a magic wand would be nice! Anyone have one?

Btw, if you’re wondering, the keys were in the passenger seat where I put them while I was gathering up groceries! And I made it to the pharmacy about 10 minutes before they closed! What’s that song about life being a highway?

Yesterday was an awful day! A-W-F-U-L! To begin with, it was almost an exact repeat of the terrible week in June–no phone, no car, etc! AT&T and I are still discussing that week from time to time to get a correct bill–not a $400 one! There was no dial tone, my car was still dead, I couldn’t find my new cell phone and I no longer have a neighbor, other than the ones who live across a busy 119! I just sat down and cried like a baby–or like a toddler having a tantrum! I’m under quite a bit of stress!

I went outside and found out one of the men working next door had a cell phone I could use! I called the phone company and after the usual aggravation, talked to someone who said I could have the phone back on after we did a check over the phone. Fine with me–I had tried that a few weeks ago and was told I’d be getting a new bill–to reflect the changes.

The workman was also able to jump my car off but I discovered after he left that he had screwed the battery gizmo on so tight, I couldn’t budge it..GREAT! I was planning to wash my hair before I took the car to Express! Decision time! I can either risk the car dying again or go like I am–a sweaty mess with dirty hair and no make-up! A vision of grime! I wanted the car fixed so I got in and drove over. Luckily they weren’t real busy and he had it fixed in about 5 minutes and didn’t charge me for it! No one else came in the waiting area so I didn’t put any eyes out!

When I got home, I discovered we had no water! Did I mention that I did a lot of yelling and cursing yesterday? Yep, I did! The cats hid most of the time. My son was keeping low! I just felt like I’d had all I could take! A storm came up and in the meantime people were trying to figure out what happened to the water.

Later, I got a call from the new owners that the water pipe was broken and no one could come out until 10 this morning. Well, at least there’s a solution not too far away!

I ordered a pizza and 2 liter Diet Coke and we sat down to eat. I thought the Coke sure was good but thought I was just thirsty, etc. About half a cup later, my son says..did you order a regular Coke? No silly, why? It was in a plastic bag and I never looked at it. Oh yeah, it was regular Coke that I can’t have ’cause I’m diabetic! It wasn’t long before I could feel the difference, mainly in my feet! Holy Crap!

Thinga can only get better!! hopefully

UPDATE: We have water! Actually, the pipe was fixed yesterday but the plumber failed to turn our water back on! Thank goodness I didn’t live in the olden days ’cause I wouldn’t like having to haul water or any of the other crap they had to do to survive!

Now I just have to find an apartment I like and move…. and a few other things!! Woo-hoo!

A decade or so ago, my uncle started muting the commercials while watching TV. We just smiled at each other. Now I find myself doing the same thing sometimes! Some commercials are just so irritating!! I think it’s a sonic that is always so stupid–idiot woman can’t get you’re driving me…..CUP! (bananas) Ye gads, people! And the same for the burger king crowd–I cannot stand the creepy king!! The best commercial was when the moms were trying to kill him! There’s so many that need to be silenced!

There is one that I like. They don’t say a word and always show a sunny beach with the sound of the ocean and seagulls. It’s for corona–and I’m not a beer drinker, but I always watch their commercial! It’s hot!

We have company. I guess I should say SOME people are having an expensive lunch with the VP today. I wonder what’s on the menu? I’d want something really special for those prices! I believe they start at $500 and go WAY up!

They had to come thru our neighborhood to get to where they were going and that’s always interesting. President Bush went up the hill where we live to get into the state park several years ago. Caused all sorts of excitement! Cops came by the day before and wanted to know who lived here and did we expect company. They looked in the mailboxes and left them open. If they did anything else, I’ve forgotten. The day he drove by, I was in my yard with my neighbor about 10 ft away.

Today, I was wondering why the cop was looking in our mailboxes and then he and another cop blocked traffic on our street and the one across the road. A helicopter flew over so low, you could read it and not long after it looked like a stampede of cop cars and motorbikes!–who were almost riding sideways! Must have been every motorbike in stock and they were showing off, too! More cars than you could count. The stinky cop that gave me a ticket was most likely in there somewhere! And at the very end, with lights flashing….an ambulance for the heart guy!

They held the traffic for a good ten minutes before they turned them loose. There were no riots.

Update: About 40 minutes to an hour later—Cheney has left the ‘hood!

I hope he doesn’t get indigestion from eating so fast!
